Commissioning Best Practices for Existing Buildings

Add to Cart

A recent report released by PikeResearch (PikeResearch.com) indicates green building certifications from programs such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) are quickly becoming the standard for the construction industry in many countries. While green building certification programs are well-known for their importance in new construction projects, this recent report forecasts that by 2020, nearly half the total certified footprint - 25 billion square feet - will comprise certifications for existing buildings.

Existing buildings are typically filled with opportunities to save energy and improve occupant comfort. Existing building commissioning, sometimes referred to as retro-commissioning, is the most direct way to find those opportunities and capitalize on them. Retro-commissioning (RCx) is a systematic, documented process that identifies low-cost operational and maintenance improvements and brings the buildings up to the design intentions of its current usage.

This recorded training webinar will also touch on the differences between energy auditing and commissioning and when to use each for the most benefit. The instructors will use their extensive hands-on experience to illuminate the opportunities to enhance the performance of existing buildings. They will focus on the commissioning of energy-using equipment such as mechanical systems, lighting and related controls and how this can result in improved indoor air quality, comfort and energy efficiency.

Green Building Services provides a breadth and depth of services in optimizing existing building systems for optimal efficiency, and your presenters will share their real-word experiences in the field.
