Pacing Delays: The Practical Effect
On Construction Projects and Delay Claims
Presented by:
William Freeman, Navigant Consulting
James Zack, Navigant Construction Forum
In recent years, a new form or type of delay has arisen in the construction industry — pacing delay. This presentation will identify, define and discuss pacing delays, and explore a contractor's right to create a pacing delay.
In addition, you will learn the practical impact of a pacing delay, both to the project as well as to a contractor's delay claim. There is not a lot of literature on pacing delays and case law is sparse. Thus, owners and contractors often find themselves at odds with one another over the right to pacing delay and the practical effect of pacing delays in delay claim situations.
Listen to this information-packed program to:
- Define what a pacing delay is
- Learn how both owners and contractors cause pacing delays
- Understand the benefits and the risks associated with pacing delays
- Discover how pacing delay claims are impacted by concurrent delay and float consumption arguments
- Recognize how pacing delay may result in less delay recovery for contractors
- And much, much more!
