Candace L. Matson is a partner at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP’s Los Angeles Office. Ms. Matson represents owners, contractors, design professionals, lenders, investment funds and others in a wide range of private and public contexts relating to design and construction, from pre-construction through project close-out and beyond. She furnishes advice and transactional services, representation as an advocate and serves as an arbitrator and mediator of construction disputes, both privately and through the auspices of various ADR providers. Ms. Matson is a frequent speaker and prolific writer on design and construction law issues, and is a co-author of the seminal treatise California Mechanics Liens and Related Construction Remedies (4th ed Cal CEB). Ms. Matson has long served in leadership roles of various legal/industry organizations, including the Los Angeles Construction Bar and the AGCC Legal Advisory Committee, and has been recommended in the field of construction by The Legal 500 United States 2013. Ms. Matson is a graduate of UC Berkeley, California Lutheran College and UCLA School of Law.
