The Legal BIM Frontier: New Contracts and
Recent Case Developments

Presented by:
Rebecca J. McWilliams, Independent Design LLC

BIM implementation is more than a simple clause in a contract that says to use BIM. BIM implementation poses a complex new set of risk allocation and management challenges.

Fortunately, the industry has caught up to the technology and several sets of BIM contract addendums and implementation guides have emerged from various organizations. Despite the new thinking required, BIM has been proven to be a better way of building, and is more likely to reduce claims and legal issues when handled properly.

Upon completion of this 90-minute presentation, you will be able to:

  • Explore risk management related to digital information when starting a BIM project
  • Utilize additional BIM contract forms to add to standard project contracts
  • Develop a BIM execution plan for a new BIM project
  • Use the concepts of information manager, project participant and contributor to plan staffing for a BIM project
  • And much, much more!

Who Will Benefit?

This program is a must if you’re a contractor, public or private owner, subcontractor, construction manager, owner’s representative, architect, engineer or other design professional who are interested in an overview of the new BIM contract forms and best practices for reducing risk on BIM projects.
