Design-Build Done Right;

Design-Build Done Wrong

Presented by:
Michael Loulakis
Capital Project Strategies, LLC

The promise of Design-Build has been shorter schedules with fewer disputes. In theory, having the contractor and designer on the same team should eliminate the bulk of construction disputes: contract interpretation, design clarifications, RFIs and coordination issues, and reduce others such as differing site conditions. In addition, the owner should realize other benefits by having contractor input during the design stage, the elimination of the contractor selection phase and the ability to start construction before 100% design completion.

Join Mike Loulakis, chairman of the Design-Build Institute of America's Committee on Best Practices, as he reveals the best and worst practices associated with the procurement, contracting and execution of design-build projects. It will particularly focus on the recently published document entitled, "DBIA Best Design-Build Practices," which was released for industry comment in August 2013 and has been the subject of much debate and dialogue in the AEC community.

This 90-minute information-packed program will show proven best practices that will help you:

  • Understand when design-build should be used
  • Determine which procurement practices are likely to be successful, and which are likely to create challenges for all of the participants to the process
  • Recognize contracting practices that will impact the owner’s commercial interests
  • Learn which contracting practices should be used for those working by or through the design-builder
  • Review some post-award execution challenges that can affect design-build performance
  • And much, much more!

Make design-build the success it deserves to be on your project. This 90-minute seminar will give you the insight to know what works and what doesn't in design-build. Sign up today and learn how to get the most out of design-build!
