WPL Publishing Co., Inc., publisher of ConstructionPro Network (featuring Construction Claims Advisor), announces a valuable interactive webinar series:
BIM Roadmap 2014:
Realizing Value for Contractors and Owners
A 4-Part Recorded-Webinar Series
Session 1 | The Untapped Value of Building Information for Contractors and Owners |
Session 2 | Giving Owners What They Want Most: Building Information, Not Building Models |
Session 3 | Using Building Information to Build Long-term Relationships with Building Owners |
Session 4 | Leveraging Building Information to Win Projects and Enhance Profitability |
The 2014 BIM Roadmap series focuses on the value of building information modeling: for designers, for contractors, and especially for owners. Over the past five years, BIM tools have matured, while rates of implementation and proficiency have increased across the industry. As technical proficiency increases, more firms are leveraging the building information in their models to improve information workflow, streamline business operations, enhance the quality of their deliverables and fortify their bottom lines.

This exclusive series will be moderated by Michael Tardif, Senior Partner of the Building Life Cycle Information Group (BLCI Group, LLC) and co-author of
Building Information Modeling: A Strategic Implementation Guide for Architects, Engineers, Constructors, and Real Estate Asset Managers. Michael has over 20 years of experience in building design and construction, including five years as Director of Technology Services for an ENR 400 construction company, where he led implementation of BIM and related technologies such as 3D laser scanning, spatial coordination, 4D modeling, cloud IT operations, and information technology integration and workflow. Michael will provide continuity and draw connections between the four sessions. Register for the entire series to acquire the full range of knowledge to be presented about the day-to-day practical applications of BIM throughout the building life cycle.
Session 1: The Untapped Value of Building Information for Contractors and Owners
It’s the information—and not just the geometry—in BIM that is making the difference for contractors and owners, from field layout to commissioning to operations and maintenance throughout the building life cycle. This session focuses on the hidden value that may be found in your own models, starting with design and construction.
Alix Loiseau, CM-BIM Vice President ACAI Technologies, Inc. | Kris Lengieza, CM-BIM Director of Virtual Design and Construction Stiles Construction |
Session 2: Giving Owners What They Want Most: Building Information, Not Building Models
Architects, engineers and contractors live in a model-centric world. Building owners live in an information-centric world. Most are not yet ready to manage “live” building information models, but many are ready to manage the rich data set of information that can be obtained from models. This session explains how to deliver building information to owners in a format they can actually use.
Michael Tardif, Assoc. AIA, LEED®AP Senior Partner Building Life Cycle Information Group | Birgitta Foster Director of Facilities Integration ACAI Technologies, Inc. |
Session 3: Using Building Information to Build Long-term Relationships with Building Owners
Many institutional and commercial owners have near-continuous capital planning (new construction and renovation) programs. Their decision-making processes depend on reliable, accurate information about their existing facilities. Learn how delivering building information can turn a project-to-project relationship into an ongoing, long-term relationship.
Jeremy Thibodeau, Assoc. AIA VDC Manager of Modeling Services Skanska USA Building, Inc. | Robert Smedley, AIA Director Exp.Federal |
Session 4: Leveraging Building Information to Win Projects and Enhance Profitability
This session highlights how design and construction firms use the information in their models to distinguish themselves from their competition, win projects, and streamline their design processes and contractual deliverable production methods.
Robert Mencarini, AIA Principal and Practice Area Leader, Design Technologies Array Architects | Aaron White, P.E. Principal, Structural Engineering Services Walter P. Moore |
Who Will Benefit?
Owners, contractors, construction managers and owners' representatives who want to gain a working knowledge of BIM and related information technologies in order to help their organizations begin realizing near-term and future benefits of Building Information Modeling opportunities and productivity gains.
This is a great opportunity to hear from these experts who use BIM in their jobs every day and to learn where BIM is today and where it is going.
