InterSpec, Digicon Enter into BIM Partnership

InterSpec Inc. and Digicon Information Inc. have entered into a partnership to bring building information modeling (BIM) integrated specifications solutions to Canada. The companies will deliver e-SPECS Software and Services Solutions integrated with the Canadian Master Specification (CMS) and National Master Specification (NMS) construction specification documents for InterSpec's customers in Canada. E-SPECS is a BIM Integrated Specification Solution providing a platform for customers to manage their design preferences, lessons learned, code requirements, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design criteria, and more.

“With the e-SPECS platform, users can save time and money developing project specification manuals coordinated with their building information models and drawings while reducing RFIs, change orders, and addendums,” according to the companies. “E-SPECS is integrated with the leading design solutions, such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Architecture products. Now in its sixth major release, e-SPECS has been available since 2004 and is used by the top AEC firms around the world.”

Digicon Information Inc. develops CMS text and publishes both CMS and NMS through the Spex.ca Internet portal in an alliance with Construction Specifications Canada.

“CMS is maintained by practicing Canadian Registered Specification Writers, who respond quickly to changes in building standards and technology; CMS updates are published on a quarterly basis,” the companies stated. “Although CMS has been available since 1978, CMS and NMS are among a variety of master specifications that have been available from Spex.ca since 2003, offering the widest variety of choices for master specifications text and software in Canada.”

“Digicon has always strived to be at the forefront of advancing technology in both document preparation and software. Partnering with InterSpec and offering CMS and NMS texts to e-SPECS customers is Digicon’s way of offering customers the electronic tools of their choice to accomplish their work,” added Digicon President David Watson. “Our partnership will enable Digicon’s Canadian customers to enjoy the advantages of e-SPECS BIM integration today, using quality and current Canadian specification content.”

CMS integration with e-SPECS is available immediately with NMS integration to follow. Digicon will continue to license CMS and NMS products while InterSpec and their resellers will license e-SPECS software applications.
