On a regular basis, we highlight content posted on other blogs that we feel would benefit our readers. This week's blog highlights include:
Virtual Reality for Construction Marketing
This week's post by Mark Buckshorn at the Construction Marketing Ideas blog discusses the use of virtual reality (VR) for construction marketing. While Buckshorn emphasizes benefits for homebuilders, one of the points he makes is that VR can show what the views are from the front and back yards. However, developers of highrise buildings can combine photos taken by drones with VR to show views from any and every window and every floor before the building is out of the ground. This could be combined with a BIM model to provide a VR experience for use in marketing and sales of offices and condos. Check it out here.
Construction Industry Ranks High in Suicide Rates
This is unpleasant news we bring here, but according to Frank Raczon, writing on the Construction Equipment blog, the construction trades are second most to commit suicides behind farmers, lumberjacks and fishermen. People working alone, working under pressure to get things done, and those facing unpredictable or seasonal employment are most at risk. Natural Building Blog
This week we discovered a new and interesting blog that covers the subject of building with natural materials, particular earth, of course, logs and "earthbags." A variety of topics are covered, including drainage systems, gutters, earth blocks, solar and social impacts. Check out the blog site here and browse through the back issues.
