99-Year Old Bridge Replacement Project Wins APWA Project of the Year Award
Completed last November, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (massDOT) recently released a time-lapse video of the Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge project that connects Worcester and Shrewsbury. The 39-month, $144M project, which replaces the existing bridge built in 1916, was awarded the 2016 "Public Works Project of the Year" award by the American Public Works Association.
The project is part of the 8-year, $3 billion Accelerated Bridge Program to reduce the number of structurally deficient bridges in Massachusetts. For more information on the project itself, visit http://www.massdotprojectkenburnsbridge.info/.
