Autodesk Inc. earlier this month announced an app for iPhone and iPad that provides Buzzsaw collaboration software users with “more secure, remote access and exchange of building project information.” Buzzaw Mobile enables users to view DWF files and standard office documents and images as well as upload project photos to a designated Buzzsaw project site.
“With support for mobile viewing of DWF files, one of the most widely used design exchange formats, Buzzsaw Mobile app users can collaborate across teams,” Autodesk stated. “When used in conjunction with the AutoCAD WS mobile app, iPad and iPhone users can view and edit AutoCAD DWG and DXF files and save the changes to a Buzzsaw project site directly from AutoCAD WS. Buzzsaw Mobile is considered a key component of the Autodesk BIM 360 (building information modelling) strategy for collaboration and data management for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries.
“Buzzsaw Mobile helps deliver on our Autodesk BIM 360 vision for ‘anywhere access’ to project data,” said Rick Rundell, Autodesk’s senior director of AEC strategic technology. “Together with Autodesk Vault Collaboration AEC software, AutoCAD WS mobile app and Autodesk Navisworks software products, Buzzsaw Mobile helps provide building, infrastructure, and plant project teams with a complete and more accurate digital view of their project, with access to information across the project lifecycle from wherever they need it -- the office, the web, or the field.”
Autodesk Buzzsaw software is a cloud-based document, design, and model management solution for centralizing and more securely exchanging AEC project information, according to the company. “Users can access the latest project information from desktop PCs, the web, or mobile devices. Autodesk Buzzsaw is designed to help support better multi-discipline, cross-company communication and collaboration, regardless of geographical location, project scope, or complexity. Fully integrated into the portfolio of Autodesk design and data management solutions, Autodesk Buzzsaw enhances building information modeling with cloud-based technology, helping architects, engineers, and contractors focus more on project delivery and less on managing costly IT infrastructure.”
Buzzsaw Mobile helps iPhone and iPad users view DWF files, view and save project and standard office documents for offline viewing, and upload project photos directly to a cloud-based Buzzsaw project site. Other mobile access options for Buzzsaw data include using AutoCAD WS for iPad and iPhone to access any DWG file managed on a Buzzsaw project site. Users then can view, edit, and save changes back to the Buzzsaw project site. In addition to Buzzsaw Mobile and AutoCAD WS, mobile users may access Buzzsaw files directly from a growing ecosystem of mobile productivity apps that allow more secure access to Buzzsaw using the industry standard WebDAV protocol.
