Employ Technology to Improve Safety
This past December we discussed using technology to aid in the delivery of safety training. More recently, David Lever, writing in the Construction Junkie blog, talked about the direct use of technology to improve jobsite safety. BIM models can help, for example, showing fall risks such as slab openings, shafts and missing stairs -- particularly if using 4D scheduling to show the sequence of construction. A new type of wearable that can help prevent injury from exceeding thresholds of one's body's ability to do certain tasks shows promise. And of course, drones can help in multiple ways, including inspections of all sorts of locations not easily accessible, as well as doing visual site safety surveys. Check out the full post here.
Thermal Imaging Accessories for Your Smartphone
In another post from the Construction Junkie, we learned of an add-on for your smartphone that turns it into a smart thermal imaging device - who knew? William Lucas reviews this and other new products by FLIR, a manufacturer of thermal imaging devices and cameras, including ones for use on drones. Read the post here.
