World Trade Center Transportation Hub - The Oculus - Opened May 26

The Oculus, site of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, celebrated its opening on May 26.  The $4B controversial project designed by Santiago Calatrava connects the New York-New Jersey PATH line with 9 subway lines. The original "Birds in Flight" design called for the "wings" to be operable, but that got axed over budget issues.  Instead, a 355-foot-long operable skylight, varying in width from 12-ft. to 22-ft., will open every year on 9/11 and other times as weather permits.  Included here is the EarthCam two-minute time-lapse video of the five-year construction project.
