When fully completed in 2028, the new Istanbul Yeni Havalimani Istanbul Airport will oust Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport as the largest in the world.  Construction started in 2015, with the first phase ready to serve 90M passengers by 2018.  The project will be staffed by 58 Liebherr tower cranes and 30,000 workers!

The project will use 200K tons of reinforcing steel and 36M cubic feet (1M cubic meters) of concrete in the terminal building, and cover 19,000 acres.  The airport has a very informative website, in both English and Turkish.  Click here to see the construction sequence of the 5 phases.
